Winner of 2012 British Jazz Awards 'Rising Star' Award
Ace trumpet man Digby Fairweather dropped us a note after reading the new Jazz Rag “I’m delighted by the Jazz Rag's recent celebrations of trumpeter Jamie Brownfield. I had the pleasure of sharing the stand with Jamie recently for a two-trumpet concert at the Bridgnorth Jazz Festival, and was amazed and delighted by everything I saw and heard. Not only is this fine young trumpeter an audible celebrant of all the greatest traditions (and genres) of his instrument, but his repertoire far exceeds that of most of his young contemporaries - he was as happy to play 'Careless love' as 'Groovin' high' . His four 'T's - tone, technique, time and taste! - are all perfectly in place and his stage demeanour (as well as his musico/technical charity to a far older performer!) marked him out for me not only as a personal favourite but a musician who deserves to make a major impact on our British jazz scene.
Thank you Jamie - and thank you Jazz Rag too!”
